Peaking is an art form. You want to shed fatigue while maintaining the strength you have built over months. A typical 3-week peak involves a heavy week, a deload/taper week, and then the meet. The mistake most make is trying to hit a new PR in the gym 5 days before the competition. You should leave your best lifts for the platform. How do you guys manage your openers and the final taper?

I always set my openers at something I can do for a solid triple on a bad day. Build confidence first.

The mental side is huge. Visualization during the taper week helps keep the focus when you are not lifting heavy.

Reduce volume by 50% but keep the intensity high. That is the secret to a good taper.
