Inflammation Markers: hs-CRP and Training
My hs-CRP came back at 4.5 mg/L. I know under 1.0 is "optimal" for heart health. Is this just systemic inflammation from training?

One heavy lifting session can keep CRP elevated for 48-72 hours. It's a non-specific marker.

Did you have a cold or even a small scratch? Even minor immune activity spikes CRP.

Check your omega-3 index. If your EPA/DHA levels are high, your baseline inflammation should be lower.

I take 4g of fish oil and my CRP is always under 0.5. It really helps.

I'll re-test after a full 4 days of rest. I want to see what my "quiet" state is.

That's the best way. Otherwise, you're just measuring the damage from your last workout.

Chronic high CRP is what leads to arterial wall damage. Occasional spikes are fine.
Re: Inflammation Markers: hs-CRP and Training
Exactly. Exercise is pro-inflammatory in the short term, but anti-inflammatory in the long term.

The paradox of training.
