Recovery Protocols for Masters Lifters 40 Plus

Post by IronPatriot77 »

As we get older, we cannot train like we are 20 anymore. Recovery takes longer, and injury risk increases. For lifters over 40, I emphasize sleep quality, hydration, and more frequent deloads. Instead of every 4 weeks, maybe every 3 weeks. Supplementation like creatine and omega-3s becomes more critical. What are the veteran lifters here doing to keep the joints healthy and the progress moving?

I stopped doing heavy flat bench. Switched to incline and dumbbells, and my shoulders have never felt better.

Mobility work before every session is non-negotiable now. If I skip it, I pay for it the next day.

Focusing on high quality reps rather than just chasing numbers. The ego has to take a backseat at this age.
