Lipid Profiles: LDL vs ApoB for Longevity
Is anyone else prioritizing ApoB testing over standard LDL-C? Peter Attia seems to think LDL-C is an outdated metric.

ApoB is definitely the more accurate marker for atherogenic particle count. LDL can be misleading if you have large fluffy particles.

Agreed. Every atherogenic particle has exactly one ApoB molecule. It's a direct count.

What's the target range? Under 60 mg/dL?

If you want zero plaque progression, 60 or lower is ideal. Most "healthy" people are walking around at 100+.

Standard labs don't even include it. You have to pay extra for the "cardio-advanced" panel.

Lipoprotein(a) is another one people miss. That one is mostly genetic and very dangerous.

Lp(a) is a one-time test. If you have it high, you need to crush your other risk factors.

Does fish oil help lower ApoB? The studies on Vascepa are interesting.

Fish oil mainly lowers triglycerides. For ApoB, you need fiber and saturated fat restriction.
