Vitamin D3: Optimal Levels vs Toxicity

Post by TropicStrength »

I'm at 85 ng/mL. Is there any benefit to going higher, or do I risk hypercalcemia?

85 is the sweet spot. Anything over 100 doesn't show much extra benefit and could be problematic.

Are you taking Vitamin K2 with it? K2 is vital for directing that calcium into bones and away from arteries.

I take 10,000 IU and I'm only at 50 ng/mL. Some people are just poor absorbers.

Take it with your fattiest meal. Vitamin D is fat-soluble. No fat = no absorption.

I use the oil-based drops. Seems to work much better than the dry tablets.

Magnesium is also required for the activation of Vitamin D in the liver and kidneys.

Low magnesium = ineffective Vitamin D. It's a whole cascade.

I'll add Magnesium Glycinate to my stack then.

Good call. Most lifters are deficient in Mag anyway.
