The Role of Grip Strength in Deadlifts
My grip is failing before my back on deadlifts. Should I use straps or train grip?
Re: The Role of Grip Strength in Deadlifts
Both. Use straps for top sets so your back gets the work, but train grip separately.

I have heard mixed things about hook grip. Is it worth the pain?
Re: The Role of Grip Strength in Deadlifts
Yes, once you get used to it, the bar feels like it is locked in.

I stick to mixed grip, just switch sides every set.

Mixed grip scares me because of bicep tears.

Keep that underhand arm straight and you will be fine.

Or just use liquid chalk. It makes a huge difference.
